Conservatory Transformation & Open Plan Extension
This project demonstrates how replacing an outdated conservatory with a thoughtfully designed extension can completely transform the way a home is used.
The property originally featured an old conservatory at the rear of the house that had become impractical. Like many conservatories, it was too hot during the summer months and too cold throughout winter, meaning it was rarely used to its full potential.
The homeowners wanted to create a more functional living space that could be enjoyed all year round, while also improving the flow between the kitchen, dining area and the rest of the home. The existing conservatory was removed and replaced with a fully insulated extension, built on a similar footprint but designed to feel much more connected to the property.
A large roof lantern was incorporated into the design to flood the room with natural light, while bifold doors open onto the garden, creating a seamless connection between the inside and outside spaces.
Internally, the extension has transformed the layout of the home. By opening up and connecting what were previously separate rooms, the new space now functions as a free-flowing family hub where cooking, dining and relaxing can all happen together. The improved layout allows everyone to remain connected, whether preparing meals in the kitchen or spending time in the living area.
The project also included extensive landscaping works, featuring a porcelain patio that complements the rendered extension and creates an attractive outdoor entertaining space.
The result is a warm, practical and versatile extension that has completely changed how the homeowners use their property, replacing an underused conservatory with a bright and sociable space designed for modern family living.
