Builders in Chepstow & the Lower Wye Valley
Building Services in Chepstow
We’re a building company based in Gorsley, working on renovations, extensions and new builds across Chepstow and the lower Wye Valley, from Tintern and St Arvans to Shirenewton. It’s a longer drive for us, around 50 minutes, so we take on larger projects here where having one team run the whole job makes the biggest difference. Chepstow is in Wales, so we build to Welsh planning and Building Regulations.
House Extensions in Chepstow
Kitchen-diners, garden-room extensions, wraparounds and two-storey additions, designed around the house and the plot. We handle drawings, Monmouthshire County Council planning and Welsh Building Regulations for you, so you deal with one team throughout.
New Builds Near Chepstow
New homes in Wales must have automatic fire suppression (sprinklers), and drainage needs approval from the SuDS Approving Body before construction. The River Wye catchment also has phosphate rules from Natural Resources Wales. Plots around Tintern and the valley villages sit inside the Wye Valley National Landscape, where design is looked at closely. We work through all of this at feasibility stage.
Home Renovations in Chepstow
Chepstow has a strong historic core around the castle, Town Gate and Port Wall, and Monmouthshire has conservation areas at Chepstow, Tintern, St Arvans, Shirenewton and Mathern. We renovate period homes with care and agree the approach with Monmouthshire County Council’s heritage team before work starts.
Driveways & Landscaping in Chepstow
Driveways, terraces, retaining walls, garden rooms and drainage, built for sloping valley sites and designed with the Welsh SuDS rules in mind. We cover Chepstow, Tintern, St Arvans, Shirenewton, Mathern, Devauden and Tutshill.

FAQ's
Are building rules different in Chepstow because it’s in Wales?
Yes. Building Regulations have been devolved to Wales since 2011. One example is that every new dwelling in Wales must have an automatic fire suppression (sprinkler) system. We design and build to the Welsh rules from the start.
Will my project need SuDS approval?
Wales has a SuDS Approving Body that checks drainage on new developments before construction starts, separately from planning. Whether you need it depends on the size of the project. We check this early and handle the application.
Do phosphate rules affect building near Chepstow?
They can. Natural Resources Wales guidance applies to development in the River Wye catchment and mainly affects new homes and drainage. We look at this during feasibility so it doesn’t hold the project up.
Do you work in Tintern and the Wye Valley villages?
Yes. Tintern, St Arvans and Shirenewton are all conservation areas, and much of the valley sits inside the Wye Valley National Landscape. We design with both in mind from the first sketch.
What size of project do you take on in Chepstow?
Because Chepstow is around 50 minutes from our base, we focus on larger renovations, extensions and new builds here, where one team running the whole job makes the biggest difference.
Do you work on period buildings in Chepstow?
Yes. We take on renovations of older stone and period properties and agree the approach with Monmouthshire County Council’s heritage team before work starts.
Do Welsh permitted development rules differ from England?
Yes, in places. Wales has its own permitted development rules for householders, with different size limits for some extensions and outbuildings. We check exactly what applies to your house under the Welsh rules before any drawings are done.
